WHY CHOOSE US

California Food Manager Certification

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

In Alabama, most food establishments require at least one Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) on staff. If you handle, prepare, or serve food, you may also need a Food Handler permit. AAA Food Handler, with over a decade of experience in food handler and food manager training, offers courses that meet these requirements.

Alabama Food Safety Course

Yes. Alabama accepts the Nationally Accredited Food Manager Certification earned through an ANAB and Conference for Food Protection (CFP) accredited program. AAA Food Handler provides these accredited courses so your certification is valid in multiple states.

Alabama does not have a statewide requirement for food handler training. However, certain counties and municipalities, such as Jefferson County and Mobile County, do require food handler cards. Because requirements can vary by location, it’s always a good idea to confirm with your local health department or employer.

Even in areas where it isn’t mandatory, completing food handler training through AAA Food Handler is highly recommended. Many employers prefer or require their staff to be trained to ensure food safety. The training helps food workers understand best practices for preventing foodborne illnesses, such as:

  • Cooking and cooling food within safe time and temperature limits
  • Properly sanitizing equipment and food-contact surfaces
  • Preventing cross-contamination
  • Following correct handwashing procedures

By taking food handler training, you’ll not only meet possible local requirements but also show your commitment to maintaining safe and hygienic practices in the workplace.

You must complete an ANAB Accredited Program approved by the Conference for Food Protection (CFP) and pass an exam. AAA Food Handler’s course includes all training materials and access to the certification exam.

While Alabama does not mandate a specific Food Allergen training statewide, many employers require it to prevent allergen-related incidents. AAA Food Handler’s allergen awareness course helps staff identify, manage, and communicate about allergens safely.

Yes. AAA Food Handler offers fully online Food Safety Certification training for both Food Managers and Food Handlers, allowing you to study at your own pace and take the nationally accredited exam remotely.

The Food Protection Manager Certification is valid for five years in Alabama. Renewal requires retaking the ANAB and Conference for Food Protection (CFP) accredited exam.

With AAA Food Handler’s online training, you can complete the food safety course in just a few hours and download your certificate immediately upon passing.

With over 10 years of experience in food handler, food manager, and food allergen safety, AAA Food Handler offers nationally accredited food manager certification through the ANAB and ensures compliance with Alabama health regulations.

Under the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) Food Rules (Chapter 420-3-22-.02), every food establishment must have a designated Person in Charge (PIC) with a valid food safety certification present during all hours of operation. Failure to comply may result in penalties.

There are some exemptions:

  • Priority Category 1 establishments – where only prepackaged time/temperature control items are sold
  • Priority Category 2 establishments – where no raw animal foods are offered, tableware isn’t reused, and heated foods aren’t cooled
  • Temporary food establishments
However, Priority Category 3 and 4 establishments are required to have certification through an ANAB-CFP-accredited program. AAA Food Handler provides training options that help meet these food safety requirements.

It’s also important to note that local health departments or Health Officers in Alabama may enforce stricter food safety rules. Always check with your local health department for any additional requirements.

If your certification is earned through an ANAB Accredited Program approved by the Conference for Food Protection (CFP), it is valid in most U.S. states. The AAA Food Handler ensures your credential is portable.

Great

March 17, 2026

I loved the whole course, however, I thought that the questions in the exam could be a bit more difficult and also sometimes, I felt like there was no good answer, in other words, the correct answer was not good enough in my opinion, such as when it asks how long should you keep cooked food out, I’d say that a good answer would be to store it as soon as it is done being used, however a maximum amount of time it can be out is 4 hours.

Very thorough

March 16, 2026

Very in depth and helpful, but I’m still not sure where the practice questions are. Taking the test with a proxy examiner on a video feed is not something I want to chance using guest WIFI in a library or somewhere besides my home. Figuring out an empty room, or a blocked out room in my house is my best option, but seems extreme.

The 9 allergens listed along with their effects and the impact they have on the immune systems was given with examples that was understood.

March 9, 2026

The highlight of this review session for me was the hidden allergens in various food that can leads to Celiac disease as discuss in the lecture and how gluten for example can over time can lead to the damage of the small intestine. It is imperative that PIC trainer and educate staff consistently to reduces acts of contaminating food. I learn a lot from this lecture, and I’m encouraged to train, post and contents to increase awareness respectively. Thank you!
