Education is the best tool to prevent, minimize, or eliminate foodborne illnesses and food hazards.
Training helps reduce or eliminate food safety hazards before they become major issues.
Reducing food safety complaints will create a happier workplace and in turn increase productivity.
Serving safe food will increase productivity will in turn increase workplace satisfaction.
Food handler training not only strengthens your resume but also shows employers that you already understand essential food protection practices, making you a more attractive candidate.
More importantly, training helps protect public health. Food employees play a key role in preventing foodborne illnesses, as research from the CDC estimates that around 70% of norovirus outbreaks are linked to infected workers handling food. New Hampshire has experienced several outbreaks in recent years, with six reported in 2017. By applying safe food handling practices learned through training, you can help reduce these incidents and make your community safer.

Simply complete an online course and pass the test. AAA Food Handler provides a mobile-friendly program with an instant certificate download. Some cities may require additional local steps, so check with your health authority.
Most food handler certificates last 2–3 years. Clark County–style renewals don’t apply here, but employers and local inspectors may set specific renewal timelines.
Training helps reduce foodborne illness outbreaks, which remain a concern in the state. It also makes you a stronger job candidate in New Hampshire’s growing food and beverage industry.
Yes. While NH DHHS accepts ANAB-accredited programs, cities that self-inspect, such as Nashua, Manchester, and Concord, may enforce their own requirements. Always confirm with your local health department.
The certification is valid for five years under ANAB standards. Local jurisdictions may set additional renewal requirements.
In New Hampshire, food establishments must have a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) on-site whenever food is being prepared, with certain exemptions outlined under He-P 2303.02(a).
To earn CFPM status, individuals must complete a food protection program accredited by ANSI-CFP, such as the training offered by AAA Food Handler.
While most food establishments are regulated by NH DHHS, some self-inspecting cities and towns enforce their own food protection rules. These municipalities—like Bedford, Concord, Dover, Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, and several others—may have different CFPM requirements or approved training providers. If you work in one of these areas, it’s important to check with your local health department to confirm which programs are accepted.
You must pass a Food Protection Manager Certification exam accredited by the ANAB. The New Hampshire Food Code requires a CFPM to be on duty whenever food is prepared.
Allergen training teaches safe handling of the nine major allergens—milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, wheat, and sesame. It helps protect customers and ensures staff can respond in emergencies.
Chefs, managers, servers, and catering staff benefit most. Many employers in New Hampshire require allergen training to improve safety and reduce liability.

Local self-inspecting cities such as Manchester, Portsmouth, and Concord may also set independent food protection requirements.

The course does make sense for food handlers.
Easy process
I like that you can take a break and come back. Not sure how long you can stay away, just a rest room and soda break. It’s lengthy but step away a bit it’s not bad. the test is easy. A lot is common sense.
