Know Before You Train
Being a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) shows that you have completed an ANAB-accredited training program and passed the CFPM exam. It ensures your establishment meets San Diego County health standards and maintains safe food handling practices.
California law requires owners, managers, or lead chefs overseeing unpackaged or potentially hazardous food to hold a valid certification. Many restaurants also certify multiple managers or chefs to cover all operational shifts.
You can enroll in the AAA Food Handler’s entirely online, ANAB-accredited course, complete the training at your own pace, and then take the online proctored CFPM exam. Once passed, you receive your certificate immediately, valid for five years.
Yes, the exam is administered via a secure online proctoring service, allowing you to take it from home or the office. The online format ensures convenience while maintaining state-approved exam standards.
Yes. California mandates that food safety managers also complete ANAB-accredited food allergy training, which AAA Food Handler includes as part of the program to ensure full regulatory compliance.
The certification is valid for five years. If the certified manager leaves or the facility changes ownership, a new CFPM must be designated, typically within 60 days, to maintain compliance with local laws.
The course covers essential areas such as:
At least one CFPM must be accessible during operational hours. While they do not need to be physically present at all times, they must be reachable on-site, by phone, or electronically to ensure compliance with San Diego County regulations.
AAA Food Handler offers fully ANAB-accredited, California-approved training, complete with instant certification, flexible online access, employer group management tools, and a satisfaction guarantee, providing you with confidence in compliance and food safety practices.
Under California Health & Safety Code §113947, all food facilities handling non-prepackaged, potentially hazardous foods must have at least one CFPM on staff. Managers must demonstrate knowledge of foodborne illness prevention, safe storage, hygiene, and employee training, as verified through an ANAB-accredited program.
Food Manager Reviews
4.9
this lesson taught me and helped me review great things about becoming a food manager and gave me more ideas on how to keep food safe like having color coded knifes to avoid cross contamination and more!
I noticed that several of the review questions were presented before the information was covered in the course. That should be corrected. I knew that answers because of my medical training. Also, on my computer the next module button is a the top of the screen, while some of the slides say click below to continue, and on my computer there was no button below to click.
Content was good, covered the topics/questions asked in the test and I passed. Wish the videos were more user-friendly. If you want to relisten to a specific thing for reviewing before the exam you would have to watch the entire video as you can’t rewind or go forward in the video lessons. No notes or material for review are provided, except for the time chart for various foods. I hope they’ll receive this feedback and update the course.
I was able to follow most of it, having a little trouble finding the practice exams. Some things felt outdated like when they asked you to press “Next Selection” but the button was called “Next Module” when I was going through it, but easy enough to figure out
More real life scenarios
The course was well put together and easy to follow however the audio kept buffing and lagging it was a little annoying to hear it every video but other wise a easy and quick course.
Course was full of useful information and interactive. Keeps you engaged.
Super convenient
It is easy to understand with all the information that we need as for the food manager
EXELENTE
Very interactive! Points out important details in each module and gives great examples and review questions to help better understand each section!
Testing modules need work. Should provide feedback at end re: how many missed, topics missed, etc.
The module were easy to understand and review
The language used in the course is very clear and objective.
The material was clearly presented with good organization. The narrator was easy to understand. My main complaint with the interface was not being able to back during a lesson, e.g. in order to capture notes or re-play what I just heard.
straight forward, great mini reviews and amazing to go at your own pace
instruction was informative
