Training helps reduce or eliminate food safety hazards before they become major issues.
Reducing food safety complaints will create a happier workplace and in turn increase productivity.
Numerous professionals nationwide have already earned and renewed their card with AAA Food Handler — a trusted name in food safety training.
The Massachusetts Food Handlers Card shows that you’ve completed food safety training and understand the basic workplace practices for handling food safely.
You’ll need to take an ANAB approved online Food Handler course, complete the training, and pass a 40-question final exam with a 70% or higher score. Once you pass, your card will be available to download and print immediately.
The course takes about 1.5 hours and is entirely self-paced. You can start, pause, and complete it whenever it works best for your schedule.
You’ll learn about safe food handling practices, proper hygiene, time and temperature controls, cross-contamination prevention, cleaning and sanitizing procedures, and how to help prevent foodborne illness.
No problem, you’ll have two attempts to pass the final exam.
Your Food Handler Card is typically accepted for 3 years, but you should check with your employer or local health department to confirm the specific renewal timeframe in your area.
The course is 100% online and available 24/7. You can complete it on your phone, tablet, or computer whenever and wherever convenient.
The Food Handler training is in English and Spanish to support various food workers across Massachusetts.

In Massachusetts, individuals may sell non-potentially hazardous, shelf-stable foods prepared in a residential kitchen. Permitted items include baked goods without perishable toppings or fillings, fruit preserves, candies, granola, spice blends, and other safe products to store at room temperature.
After completing the Food Handler Course, you’ll be better prepared for entry-level positions such as cook, prep cook, food server, barista, dishwasher, deli staff, or grocery associate in restaurants, cafés, bakeries, food trucks, and more.

super good
Amazing experience
I like the Mouse Buttons and that you can change answer after you mark the Button before you Submit.
The course if simple, yet it contains lots of useful information.
Easy to follow and relatively painless. I felt like my time was respected, it didn’t take long at all and I learned a lot. Though I swear that question about whether customers are allowed to reuse plates cups and bowls at self service stations wasn’t touched on in the lessons. Maybe another run through just to make absolutely sure all the test questions are covered in the videos is needed? Also, multiple times I found myself trying to rewind to hear something again and it seems you’re unable to use the progress bar at the bottom of a video to rewind, even after watching it all the way through. This meant that if I really needed to hear something again I’d have to watch the video back all the way to that point to see it again. Maybe allow us to skim through timestamps once we’ve finished watching? That’s all I have to complain about though, overall fine experience outside of that.
This was actually very helpful, and I like how the video was actually informative, and there was at least one question from every part of the video, and it was very easy to use.

Would love content about covid practices.
The course is very interesting.
The slides and demonstrating videos are easy to follow, understandable, and key-words captured.
good
Time consuming. I’m more of a reader learner, so the videos were a bit tedious but effective.
Very informative

I found the course easy to follow, and appreciated being able to take it at my own pace and as my schedule allowed. There was just enough interaction within the course to keep my attention, and it was easy to take breaks or make notes without needing to restart a section. I also appreciated the running tally of how much of the course I had completed.
This course was very detailed and provided easy to understand visuals and imagery aides. I learned more in this course than I have so far in my degree for IT management. Simply because this is more organized, interesting, and has videos and visuals to guide you through the process. They have interactive portions throughout to ensure you understand. I enjoyed this course and will definitely refer it to others!

It was fairly quick and easy process
Enjoyed the tutorials. Pretty painless. Good info w/a fun presentation. Totally recommend.
I thought the training we generally well done. Some places went very fast so I was happy to be able to back up. I did experience a period of time where the software was being updated and I had to take an unscheduled break.
overall good training. Some sections went a little to quick to take notes. Suggest a manual that could be downloaded.
Straight forward with the information, videos are not long. I like how it was simple to understand. I was able to watch with my kids so they can also understand that food is not always safe to eat and made them aware of it. I also like how I was able to take notes.
Quick and easy to follow along with. Very informative.
