Education is the best tool to prevent, minimize, or eliminate foodborne illnesses and food hazards.
Training helps reduce or eliminate food safety hazards before they become major issues.
Reducing food safety complaints will create a happier workplace and in turn increase productivity.
Numerous professionals nationwide have already earned and renewed their card with AAA Food Handler — a trusted name in food safety training.
Missouri has no statewide rule, but several counties and cities have their course requirements. Check locally to be sure.
Usually, you must complete an approved Food Handler Course, pass a short test, and provide proof of the course to your employer or local authority.
First, check with your city or county health department to ensure your chosen course is accepted in your area.
To get a Missouri Food Handlers Card, you must complete a food safety course program accredited by the ANABÂ or approved by your local health department.
You must complete a food safety course that is either ANAB accredited or approved by the appropriate Missouri health authority. This course can often be taken online.
Many counties in Missouri accept a Food Handler Card from an ANAB accredited program. However, some counties and cities have specific food handler requirements, including Jackson County, Kansas City, City of Independence, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, Clay County, and Cass County.
Counties where a standard ANSI-accredited card is typically accepted include Boone, Cape Girardeau, Dent, Lafayette, Marion, Platte, and Sullivan.
The Course typically includes personal hygiene, safe food temperatures, cross-contamination prevention, storage, and proper cleaning procedures.
The course takes about 1.5 hours and can be completed at your own pace.
You’ll have two opportunities to pass the 40-question multiple-choice test with a 70% or higher score.
Food Handler Cards are typically valid for 3 years, depending on the county. Confirm with your local health office for exact details.
The Food Handler Certificate Course helps you understand how to prevent foodborne illness, which may be legally required depending on where you work.
You can work in restaurants, fast food, bakeries, food trucks, grocery stores, or catering as a cook, server, dishwasher, or prep worker.

Missouri’s Cottage Food Law permits the sale of non-potentially hazardous foods, including:
These items must be shelf-stable and not require refrigeration. Foods that are perishable or require time/temperature control for safety (TCS), such as low-acid canned foods, acidified foods, and particular dairy products, are prohibited.
Under Missouri’s Cottage Food Law, producers can sell up to $5,000 worth of cottage food products annually without requiring a food establishment license. Sales must be direct to consumers, and products cannot be sold through third-party vendors like restaurants or grocery stores.
No, Missouri does not require a Food Handler certificate to sell homemade food. However, it’s strongly recommended to take one to learn safe food handling practices and build customer trust. Some local areas may have their own requirements, so it’s a good idea to check with your local health department.

Taking this course as a refresher since I had already taken one for a different region is really helpful and really digs the information deep into my brain.
I think we can admit going through a full training course for food handling again after yours expired, is tedious. But this was a breeze to get through! The questions were the word for word explanations you got prior to the test.

Great
Very easy to follow and you have the ability to break up the course so you don’t have to do it all at once. Only feedback is sometimes the information was given quickly before moving to the next slide – it would be helpful to pause so we can jot things down. Otherwise it was great!
Very informative and easy to follow and understand
I really appreciate how everything is broken down in this course. I also really appreciated the depth at which these topics are covered.
This course was very helpful and beneficial to the understanding of my duties as a manager. It also helped me prepare for my exam.
As someone who took FCS in high school and has worked, front of house, in restaurants, this was mostly review but was easy to follow and broken down in a way that anyone could understand.
Good information up to date training. Help me under temperature and danger zone.

I have been certified before, through a different course. This course was full of important information. Although it took quite some time to go through all the videos, it was definitely informative and i feel i have the knowledge base i need to succeed at my place of business.
Very informative when opening a resteraunt.
I liked the way the course was laid out—it was easy to follow and understand. My only complaint is that you can’t rewind any of the videos until you’ve finished watching the entire thing
it helped me understand and having more knowledge in working in the food business. it allowed me to prepare for working in the food business.
the course of training was easy to follow and easy to learn. it helped me prepare for restaurant working.
I appreciate the straight to the point style of this course. It didn’t have a bunch of fluff to confuse the mind when it came to the reviews. I enjoyed the pace at which the topics were discussed and the questions at the end of each portion. I feel confident that the test will go well because of this.
This course was in bite-size, easy to understand sections with review questions throughout to make sure one understands the information. Even working in the food industry for 13 years, I learned several things. Thank you!

it was nice having it broken up into two sections
Accidentally moving forward and trying to return to previous spot was impossible. You have to restart the who section even if you knew which spot you left off.quiz is too slow moving and buttons had to be tapped multiple times to move on.
Most of the information is what we are already trained to do, but there were things that were new to me and I’m glad I learned here, rather than having to experience them, firsthand at work and be confused.

This course broke down each section into manageable chunks. This allowed me time to go at my own speed and take notes if needed. The reviews after each section helped me gage my understanding of each topic so I could go back and refresh if needed.
