Education is the best tool to prevent, minimize, or eliminate foodborne illnesses and food hazards.
Training helps reduce or eliminate food safety hazards before they become major issues.
Reducing food safety complaints will create a happier workplace and in turn increase productivity.
Numerous professionals nationwide have already earned and renewed their card with AAA Food Handler — a trusted name in food safety training.
Missouri has no statewide rule, but several counties and cities have their course requirements. Check locally to be sure.
Usually, you must complete an approved Food Handler Course, pass a short test, and provide proof of the course to your employer or local authority.
First, check with your city or county health department to ensure your chosen course is accepted in your area.
To get a Missouri Food Handlers Card, you must complete a food safety course program accredited by the ANABÂ or approved by your local health department.
You must complete a food safety course that is either ANAB accredited or approved by the appropriate Missouri health authority. This course can often be taken online.
Many counties in Missouri accept a Food Handler Card from an ANAB accredited program. However, some counties and cities have specific food handler requirements, including Jackson County, Kansas City, City of Independence, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, Clay County, and Cass County.
Counties where a standard ANSI-accredited card is typically accepted include Boone, Cape Girardeau, Dent, Lafayette, Marion, Platte, and Sullivan.
The Course typically includes personal hygiene, safe food temperatures, cross-contamination prevention, storage, and proper cleaning procedures.
The course takes about 1.5 hours and can be completed at your own pace.
You’ll have two opportunities to pass the 40-question multiple-choice test with a 70% or higher score.
Food Handler Cards are typically valid for 3 years, depending on the county. Confirm with your local health office for exact details.
The Food Handler Certificate Course helps you understand how to prevent foodborne illness, which may be legally required depending on where you work.
You can work in restaurants, fast food, bakeries, food trucks, grocery stores, or catering as a cook, server, dishwasher, or prep worker.

Missouri’s Cottage Food Law permits the sale of non-potentially hazardous foods, including:
These items must be shelf-stable and not require refrigeration. Foods that are perishable or require time/temperature control for safety (TCS), such as low-acid canned foods, acidified foods, and particular dairy products, are prohibited.
Under Missouri’s Cottage Food Law, producers can sell up to $5,000 worth of cottage food products annually without requiring a food establishment license. Sales must be direct to consumers, and products cannot be sold through third-party vendors like restaurants or grocery stores.
No, Missouri does not require a Food Handler certificate to sell homemade food. However, it’s strongly recommended to take one to learn safe food handling practices and build customer trust. Some local areas may have their own requirements, so it’s a good idea to check with your local health department.

Make sure you watch all the videos. Take notes on a note book. The test was very easy.
Everything in the test was covered during the training modules.
The training was very informative and very through I found the pop up quizzes to be helpful for the final exam. Not very hard to complete and most of the questions was self explanatory.
I had a great learning experience
Great course
simple and straight to the point
Easy to understand and quick to complete!
There was a lot of good information.
This course is convenient, efficient, and provides all the necessary information.
staff was very helpful and knowledgeable
I took this to help with finding jobs, but at the end, I came out of it with knowledge I should have known for a long time, and because of this, I now know the necessary precautions, advice, and other things to help me at home, and at work.
I thoroughly enjoyed the AAA Food Handler course. To my surprise, I learned very important safety protocols and steps in handling food in any food setting. This course should be taught as earliest as a kid to adults at their level of understanding to educate, prevent & safely handle food. Safety should be a priority at any age when handling food.
Very easy to complete and understand.

I found this training to cover all the bases. Though the volume levels were just bare minimum, I could hear most everything ok.
This course was thorough, and easy to follow. Although this is a 5 year renewal for me I still learned a lot. I liked the fact that the course was bundled and at a very reasonable price.
Thank you AAA
This was an informative and helpful. Easy to follow.
I enjoyed this course & all the material was easy to understand.
Very easy to access and understand. The visual aids as well as the commentary were extremely beneficial and I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who needs to complete their training
Easy to navigate
I TRULY LEARNED A LOT
I went over some modules a couple of times to absorb all the information in them. The only problem I had was with the actual test taking. I took the test through ServSafe and some topics were different so I was not able to give correct answers to some questions. They went more in depth on when food should be reheated or thrown out or how long to keep something even though it was stored at 41 or below and with choice of 5-7 days. Only one question on the ALERT System and I had memorized much of that. There were very few questions on the 9 different bacteria. Also, many questions about food deliveries, floor composition, etc. I passed the test but had to work to figure out answers that would be correct. I would have preferred to have a comprehensive practice test at the end in addition to the short quizzes at the end of each module. The module directory was good to have to review an item or 2.
I must say it was an incredibly smooth and rewarding experience. The course was quick, making it perfect for those with a busy schedule but still eager to learn. It was easy to navigate, and I never felt lost or overwhelmed at any point.
The content was clear and straightforward, allowing me to grasp the concepts quickly and confidently. The structure of the course made it simple to follow, with practical examples that helped reinforce the lessons.
Overall, I highly recommend the Food Handlers course to anyone looking to expand their knowledge in a fast, efficient, and user-friendly way!
Good material in general, a single summary slide for each module wold be very helpful.
