Numerous professionals nationwide have already earned and renewed their card with AAA Food Handler — a trusted name in food safety training.
The AAA Food Handler is an online course platform accredited by the ANAB that teaches essential food safety practices, including hygiene, temperature control, proper cleaning, and contamination prevention. It’s entirely online, self-paced, takes about 1.5 hours, and is available in English and Spanish.
Anyone working with unpackaged food, food-contact surfaces, utensils, or equipment in Indiana should take the Food Handler Certificate Course. This includes cooks, dishwashers, servers, bartenders, deli clerks, grocery staff, and more.
Even though it’s not legally required, the Food Handler Certificate Course helps you learn how to prevent foodborne illness, follow proper food safety procedures, and reduce workplace risks. It also gives you a hiring advantage in Indiana’s growing food service industry.
You’ll learn about foodborne illness prevention, time and temperature controls, personal hygiene, handwashing, safe food storage, cleaning and sanitizing procedures, and avoiding cross-contamination and allergen risks.
To earn your Indiana Food Handlers Card, you must complete the online training and pass the 40-question final exam with a 70% or higher score. You have two attempts to pass, and upon passing, you can instantly download and print your certificate.
Typically valid for 5 years. Renewal is required before the expiration date. Always check with your local health department for updates.
Most Indiana food handler certificates are valid for 3 years. However, employers or local health departments may have renewal guidelines, so it’s best to check with them.

I needed to take a food handler course to get a cottage food license. This one covered a lot of subjects, more than I thought it would. I feel confident I can start my cottage food business with proper food handling procedures.
Thank you. This was easy and professional…
This was a very informative course and will help me now and in the future.
Well explained and simple to navigate
REALLY INFORMATIVE AND IMPORTANT COURSE SPECIFIES ALL THAT`S NEEDED IN GREAT DETAIL MAKING IT EASY TO PASS THANKS !
Easy videos, if you truly sit down and pay attention you should be able to pass the first time.
Smooth and fast learning!
It doesn’t give you a progress bar. It’s overall incredibly hard to navigate and then when you finish it’s really hard to find your certificate. Mine didn’t prompt me to do anything and didn’t show up in the certificate sections so I had to contact customer service.

This is a great course and very easy to use
Informative
Course was a good pace and easy to understand.
One part of the course that really stood out to me as an ice cream shop owner was the section on temperature danger zones. I always thought as long as the ice cream stayed frozen, we were in the clear—but the course explains how even brief temperature changes during scooping or restocking can allow bacteria to grow, especially in toppings or mix-ins that sit out. It also covered how sanitizing scoops between uses isn’t just about cleanliness—it’s a real food safety measure. Honestly changed the way I look at our prep line.
Could use less fluff but otherwise just fine
Very detailed helpful and easy going. Great refresher!
The importance of dealing with food
Wasn’t too repetitive, great learning tool for those who do not want to take the in-person course.
This course was very well organized and easy to follow. I originally purchased a different course. Very shady that the other course asked for a review before the course would even start. This course was more money but definitely worth it. Especially since now I have paid for the other course and will most likely not get a refund.
It was good, a lot of important information that helped me to realize the significance for a manager to keep everyone safe and keep up with the business at the same time. Such as identifying potential biological, chemical, food borne hazards that could lead to an unsafe situation.
A good resource. The presentation controls need to be updated, but a strong resource nonetheless.
I completed the AAA Food Handler course, and I’m really happy with it! Everything was clear, informative, and easy to follow. The lessons covered all the important topics.
The online format was super convenient. It was a great experience, and I feel much more confident now.
Provided an easy to follow outline, along with user-friendly ways to review and study at my own pace.
i love that i got to do the course on my own pace. and maria was a great help.
amazing
My first FMCC was back in 2006. Although I’m not a fan of having to take any type of tests, we’ll see how this one goes! I have found this course to be a bit more interesting than the previous ones taken. It goes quickly, is easy to understand, but I probably could have done without the “feeling worms move in their mouth” part. Other than that, two thumbs up!!!

I like that you can take a break and come back. Not sure how long you can stay away, just a rest room and soda break. It’s lengthy but step away a bit it’s not bad. the test is easy. A lot is common sense.
