Numerous professionals nationwide have already earned and renewed their card with AAA Food Handler — a trusted name in food safety training.
In North Dakota, earning a Food Handler Card requires completing a food safety training course accredited by the ANAB. The course teaches key principles such as food hygiene, proper handling techniques, contamination prevention, and strategies to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses. It also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. This course complies with state regulations and is mandatory for individuals working with food in restaurants, catering companies, and other food service operations.
To receive a North Dakota Food Handlers Card, take and pass a food safety course accredited by the ANAB. Once completed, you’ll receive a recognized card throughout the state.
The Food Handler course is done entirely online and is available 24/7. After finishing the 1.5-hour course, you’ll take a 40-question final exam. You’ll need a score of at least 70% to pass and earn your certificate.
The Food Handler course is perfect for individuals in the food industry, whether you work in a restaurant, cafĂ©, grocery store, food truck, or concession stand. It’s designed for anyone involved in preparing or serving food.
The Food Handler Course costs just $6.95. Discounts are available for businesses looking to train multiple employees at once.
You can take the Food Handler Certificate in English or Spanish.
No worries—you get two attempts to pass the exam. You’ll have another chance if you fail the first time.

North Dakota permits the sale of non-potentially hazardous foods such as baked goods, jams, jellies, preserves, honey, syrups, and certain canned goods. These items must be shelf-stable and not require refrigeration.
North Dakota does not require food safety training for cottage food producers. However, completing a Food Handler certificate is strongly recommended to ensure safe food handling practices and enhance consumer confidence. The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services offers resources and guidance on food safety training options.

Very thorough.
Learned some new things, website hung up a few times.
I enjoyed getting the information I needed thank you.
While there were many videos that felt slightly overwhelming, each video was fairly short and easily digestible.
Modules were well explained with images, and very easy to understand.
The class was great. I had lots of fun thank you.
The mandatory training wasn’t as bad as some. I liked the visual pictures and also reading the closed caption as I listened to the trainer.
Very informative and helpful.
Not bad like price
pre Siri level of AI sounding voice. The creators didnt even take the time to record a real human… advertised as “minority and woman owned”, this should never be something to profit off of, and im a minority who owns a business. Test was full of “gatcha” type questions.
One less because sometimes the audio would glitch out. I don’t know if that was because I was doing it through a phone instead of a computer but it did not hinder learning and was only a little frustrating since I could reload and it would be fixed or I could read the subtitles.
Very easy to follow, engage and understand. Love that it is woman and minority owned!

It was a very thorough training program and the exam reflects what was being taught. I would highly recommend those in the food service industry to follow through on this.
Very important for law enforcement knowledge.
good
I liked the course however the narrator is a robot which made it harder to listen.
I thought the modules were interesting. I took six pages of notes. The navigation was easy.
The videos robot voice sounded so bad so boring. They should a a person do the voice over
it was easy to follow along with
I knew a lot but also learned a lot!
Mientras estaba viendo los videos, estaba tomando notas en una libreta frequentemente. Pero despues de entrar al examen, note que mucha de la informacion en los videos era innecesaria o demasiado detallada. Solo utilize como un 15% de mis notas. Muchos videos y mucha informacion.
some of the answers for the questions could have been revised to make more sense.
Very thorough yet fast course.
Lots of good and helpful information.
It was good, very knowledgeable slides.
