California Food Manager Certification

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Arizona law requires that each food establishment have at least one Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) who has passed an exam from a nationally accredited food manager certification program through the ANAB and the Conference for Food Protection (CFP). AAA Food Handler offers these accredited programs along with basic food handler training for employees.

Arizona Food Safety

Most Arizona counties require food employees to earn a valid food handler card, but beyond compliance, the training helps protect public health. If you handle unpackaged food, knowing proper food safety practices is critical to preventing foodborne illness and protecting your employer’s reputation.

The CDC reported 24 foodborne disease outbreaks in Arizona in 2015, 20 in 2016, and 10 in 2017—a clear decline. By practicing what you learn in food handler training, you play an important role in keeping those numbers down and ensuring safer dining experiences for your customers.

A Food Handler card focuses on basic hygiene, safe food temperatures, and cross-contamination prevention. A Food Protection Manager Certification covers advanced topics such as HACCP principles, employee training, and regulatory compliance. AAA Food Handler provides both, so your entire team can meet Arizona’s standards.

While allergen training is not mandated by the state, it is considered best practice in the Arizona food service industry. AAA Food Handler’s allergen awareness course helps staff identify the top eight allergens and prevent cross-contact, protecting customers with dietary restrictions.

Yes. AAA Food Handler provides 100% online Food Safety Certification programs for both Food Managers and Food Handlers, including the option to take the ANAB accredited exam remotely.

Your Food Protection Manager Certification is valid for five years in Arizona. Renewal requires retaking an ANAB and Conference for Food Protection (CFP) accredited exam.

In Arizona, the person in charge of a food establishment must be able to show knowledge of foodborne illness prevention and safe handling practices. While statewide law doesn’t always require a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) credential, earning one is a strong way to prove compliance.

Local jurisdictions may impose stricter rules. For instance, Maricopa County requires at least one CFPM to be on staff and available during all hours of operation, either in person or by phone/electronic communication.

With over 10 years of experience in food handler, food manager, and allergen safety education, AAA Food Handler delivers training that meets state and county health department requirements while holding ANAB accredited credentials.

Yes. Certifications from AAA Food Handler are nationally accredited through the ANAB and approved by the Conference for Food Protection (CFP), making them accepted in most states.

Not as bad as I thought

November 21, 2025

I have had my food handlers card in the past and went through a different website to obtain it. I got this website from my current supervisor and honestly this website was very informative. Considering that this is women owned, things are explained in a good detail. 1.5 hours of this does seem long but it is not. I learned some new information from the last time I took it and also the final exam was 40 questions. Final exam questions were fairly simple and reflected everything that was talked about.

Pretty interesting

November 21, 2025

Definitely interesting. I’ve had to take this course several times over my life and this one kept my attention well. The narrator used had a good voice and having to interact at times kept me on my toes. I liked it overall and will be back if available when it is time to do it again.

Very eye-opening and helpful

November 21, 2025

The information makes one aware of how to protect yourself and your loved ones from needless illnesses by using preventive measures, common sense and paying attention to the potetntial hazards and cross contamination when it comes to handing food. This info also keeps me alert when I am being served in a restaurant. Just recently, I was at a restaurant, and was served my meal with white bread instead of pita bread. I brought it to the server’s attention, he apologized and he grabbed the two pieces of bread off my plate. We thought that was kind of weird, but at least he was nice about it, and wearing gloves. However, he touched other things with his gloves, since he was busy serving other people. If I knew then, that that would’ve been a violation, I think I would’ve told the manager, instead of letting it go. Even though some of this info is common sense, it is helpful to bring the topic up with an explanation to back up the standards. Otherwise, it is very easy to let things slide. Also, there are specific info that I wasn’t aware of, like how many degrees should you receive food when hot or when cold. Overall, this course was very insightful. I kept thinking my whole family should take this course, so we can all be on the same page. I also feel the need to practice these guidelines regularly in my own home kitchen.
